We live in an apartment on the East China Sea in Japan – barely a 1/2 mile from the water’s edge and the pigoens love our balcony! This tape is wrapped to hang along our balcony and shines reflectively against the sun and makes noise against the wind. Works great! We’ve tried a fake bat, owl, snakes, even WD-40 on the balcony – you name it! Our neighbors have spikes and the birds just perch on the spikes. Our balcony has been pigeon and poop free for a year now. We have had to replace it after the “winter” and typhoon season beacuse the reflectiveness wears off in wind and rain after a while – but little problem and work for us to keep these nasty birds away!

I tried putting Irri-tape around the yard to scare away the birds who were feasting on my dog’s food. It worked for maybe a day then the birds realized it wasn’t a threat and started ignoring it.

If you’re considering getting this to keep birds away from your pet’s food, try getting a Bergen Aut-O-Dine instead. That worked beautifully for me.

In my opinion, having this tape hanging all around is not only ineffective as a bird deterrent, it looks trashy.

Millions of birds die or are injured every year when they hit windows. I had dozens of birds fly into the windows at my house. I taped a strip of this ribbon to the top of each window so it hangs down. It turns and twists in the breeze and alerts birds that the window is not an open space that they can fly through. It seems to have worked very well so far.

We have had returning woodpeckers marking our home for the past few years. We have repaired and replaced shingles but nothing seemed to deter them. When they returned this spring we used this irritape and they have not returned. It was a good investment.

This product did not help me at all. I bought it as a back up incase the Bird-B-gone Hawk didn’t work. You need to have a place to hang this stuff where the sun will hit it at least 12 hrs of the day and the way my front door and stairs sit I am lucky to have sun for 3 hrs of the day.

The tape seems to be a reflector of light so maybe I can use it for something else at night to reflect headlights if I ever go walking after dark, LOL.

Or maybe at Christmas on the tree to reflect off the Christmas lights? That might be cool!
