Pet food should be just as healthy as the food we eat. The healthier their food is and the lesser preservatives there are in it, the longer and healthier their lives would be.
However, not many people know that there are plenty of ingredients found in most commercial pet foods that are actually bad for our pet’s health. There have been reports of people finding all sorts of stuff in commercial pet foods such as glass, feathers and even beaks! Then there are the invisible ones in the form of chemicals, steroids, artificial coloring as well as additives that actually do more harm than good.
I know many pet owners are dependent on commercial pet food as the primary food source for our pets simply because they are easier to prepare. But now that more and more people are becoming aware of the various health hazards that they hold, many pet owners are opting to make their own homemade pet foods.
This can include the raw food diet which is very popular among pet owners whilst some simply feed their pets the same food that they eat. The latter is not highly recommended though as our pets have a different daily nutritional need than human beings so feeding them table food might not be healthy and might not suffice their everyday nutritional needs. Of course, one could still choose to buy one of those proven safe pet foods that also make sue of organic ingredients. They might be a bit more expensive than the usual pet food but they are worth it.
